Vaccination Policy
Rabies is required (age appropriate) for all classes. We advise you to check with your vet’s recommendations for public activity – either vaccines or titer. We recommend but do not require bordetella – aka kennel cough – or canine influenza as we do not permit dog play in our classes. We do require verification of vaccination or titer from your vet prior to classes or private sessions.
We strongly recommend you check with your vet prior to attending ANY activity involving other dogs at a public place.
A clean fecal test (within the last 6 months) is required to ensure the health and safety of dogs and humans on the premises.
Intact Dog Policy
Intact males are permitted to attend classes and private sessions.
Intact females NOT in cycle and that have been done with their cycle for 10 days are permitted to attend classes and private sessions.
Females in heat are NOT permitted on premises for their safety and that of our working dog team and other client dogs.
There are several safety reasons for our policy including but not limited to:
- ALL male dogs – neutered as well as intact – are able to tie to an intact female while she is in heat.
- Females in heat can result in fights among male dogs – both neutered and intact.
- Not all females have visible “issues” with their heat cycle, but still may leave behind residue in the training area and lobby floors that we cannot see but the other dogs can smell.
Handler Age Policy
For insurance purposes all handlers MUST BE age 18. Younger children are welcome to attend classes, but must remain seated and within the parent(s) care, custody, and control at all times.
When you enter the training room we will direct you to your seat. Please move to your seat and refrain from letting your dog greet other dogs. On leash greetings can be stressful for some dogs. Plus, most dogs have no problem playing with other dogs, but they DO need to learn to FOCUS on you when other dogs are present!
Payment Policy
PRE-PAYMENT via Credit Card or Check is REQUIRED to confirm your consultation or hold your spot in a group class. Failure to pay your invoice will result in cancelation of your consultation. Please contact us at 616-698-2237 if you have questions regarding payment.
We accept credit card, debit card, Venmo, Pay Pal, Pay Pal Pay Later via our website, cash, or check.
All fees and charges for Training Sessions must be paid in readily available funds (including cash or money order) in advance and are non-refundable.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation of a Training session by OWNER with less than 48-hour notice will result in the OWNER forfeiting the Training Session. If HAPPY TAILS cancels an appointment, the OWNER may reschedule the appointment at any mutually agreeable time before the Expiration Date for no additional fee. Training sessions that are not completed before the Expiration Date may be rescheduled for an additional per session fee.
Cancellation due to weather conditions by HAPPY TAILS will result in rescheduling of private sessions and a class being extended as needed to ensure you receive all weeks of your classes. Communication of cancellation will be: phone call, text message, email, AND social media (Facebook and Instagram) updates.
