Private Training Services

Basic Training

Our basic training program is dedicated to establishing manners and resolving unwanted puppy and adolescent issues.

  • Basic manners work includes behaviors such as sit, down, leave it, come, stay, go to mat, and leash walking.
  • Resolve behavior problems including but not limited to jumping, stealing from counters, mouthing, and pulling on leash.
  • When your dog is ready, we offer “field trips” to teach you and your dog how to transition the skills learned at the training facility into real life success.
  • Establish focus, a solid response in a variety of situations, and a successful bond with your dog to ensure a well-mannered family member.
  • After a detailed discussion at your initial consultation, we develop a training program to meet you and your dog’s needs to achieve success.

Behavior Modification

Behavior Modification and Reactivity/Aggression Training

Behavior modification training is used to address reactive behaviors due to a dog being too excited, overstimulated, fearful, aggressive, and/or emotionally “out of control” when triggers are present.

“Triggers” cause your dog to demonstrate behaviors including but not limited to:

  • Pulling
  • Lunging
  • Barking and/or growling
  • Or a combination of these behaviors presenting at a varied level of response

“Triggers” may include but are not limited to:

  • Other dogs
  • Unfamiliar people and/or children
  • Prey animals including squirrels, chipmunks and cats
  • Runners, bicyclists, pedestrians
  • Anything appearing suddenly
  • Unfamiliar things
  • Another dog in your household and/or intrahousehold aggression
Leash Reactivity/Aggression Training

Having reactivity issues specifically while on-leash or on walks is very common. Many dogs are not reactive when at home and/or off leash, but have reactivity behaviors when on leash, away from home, or on walks.

We have specialized programs to help you and your dog address reactive behavior. Our programs are tailored to meet your dog’s needs; we will work at your dog’s pace for learning to overcome this emotional and challenging behavior problem.

Our training program will:

  • Teach you and your dog a more successful way to handle walks
  • Eliminate unwanted behaviors including lunging, barking, growling at other dogs and/or people
  • Improve your dog’s response to other dogs, people and/or unfamiliar situations
  • Provide tools and management ideas during training to prevent your dog from continuing to rehearse unwanted behavior patterns
